does each hull have a set upkeep?
...or to the drives affect this?
(i haven't noticed any difference in upkeep when reconfiguring the weapons)

also, I'm wondering what do to as far as planet defense.. should i have a bunch of small ones, with small upkeep, (if so, how small) or should i have bigger ships, which will cost more, and will be basicly doing nothing, untill i happen to get attacked...

any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome...

As Surst wrote, upkeep is only affected by the hull.

For defence. The bigger a ship, the cheaper it is. Just have a look on the list above. So build the biggest you can afford. (Of cause the H11 is an exception because of it's limited range and you can build up a mixed fleet for the initiative bonus, but that's expensive compared to a simple H10 fleet.)

Don't worry to much about planet defence. You can't protect every star system. Have a fleet ready near you home system (because of the jump drive) and on each border with potential danger. Align the defence with your house members and there should be no problems.

k, thank you for your advice...
...of course, lvl 4 hulls are the biggest i can get for now...
untill i decide i realy want to spring 25$ a year for the membership....
...which is a lot of money to me..lol Rolling Eyes
...it would be cool if you could get a life-time membership... ofr example, i just got a life-time membership to Territories, which is a similar game, for 40 bucks...which is a better deal than paying $13 a year....

H1 = 7
...
H3 = 19
H4 = 41
H5 = 65
...
...
...
H10 = 916

anyone got the rest of the figures?

My H11 is not finished (2863 so far with several lasers missing) and I've never build the small ones.

But don't overestimate the combat power. It can't be really used to compare the ships.

by 'fully equipped' i assume you mean with the maximum level weapons they can hold...
do shields also up the combat rating?

of course combat value isnt a perfect measure of a ship

Another question regarding ships. Is it possible to make a ship selfdestruct. If you have a small fighter and don't want to spend money on it, and it will take forever to get it home from the current position a good option would be selfdestruct. Is this possible and where do you do it then?
