the bigger your planet is the lower is it`s tax rank, the lower the tax rank the more of the tax income stays with you instead of going into the star redistribution tax

your biggest planets (on inhabitants) got always the tax rank 1

yes and no...
if you have 10 planets, your biggest will be 1.... smallest 10 (in population not diameter)

suppose you set tax level 10% (WARNING: do not do this if you are relatively new to the game as you will kill all growth), you get 10% of the population of the planet (100k for a 1,000,000 population planet) minus the star redistribution tax.
this is worked out as follows (taken from the help in bottom left)

Equation for star redistribution tax (SRT)
SRT of the solar system in percent = 6 * exp(0.05 * tax rank)

so your largest planet pays the least SRT
and your smallest pays the most

if you look at finance page, you will see SRT in both in and out sections...
everyone pays the SRT as worked out by the formula into a single pot, and that number is split evenly so that everyone gets a fair portion.

Overall, the big players will high taxes (esp on bigger / more planets) pay more money than they receive, whereas people new to the game do not pay anything if they keep their tax rate on 0% (as they should as long as possible)

nothing to do with size 1,2,3 in here

hope this was helpful

At some point, about 55(?) planets or so, star redistribution tax will pass 100%. At that point, there is no point in taxing your smaller planets anymore. Also at that point, there is no reason to capture size 1 planets since they will never be among your 55 largest planets.

However, this is not something smaller players need to worry about. You should be more concerned about letting your planets grow. Keep taxes as low as possible and live off the star redistribution tax.

For your first 50 planets, the SRT is figured from the formula as shown above. After 50, the SRT is always 95%, so you have to conquer a lot more planets to get more money.
