It could be such, that after a battle, depending on the destroyed cp, the planet (if a planet were involved), would sustain damage to its population and mining facilities.

I think this has already been asked sometime before on the lines of a new type of ship. The reason that I don't like this is that I don't want to ruin a planet that might conquer.

i agree with Locutus. i wouldnt want to have to rebuild what was already on the planet. maybe pay a repair price instead of things being destroyed..?..

This is a complicated matter.
1. Why the planet is shooting without someone installing lasers or torpedoes on it?
2. Where its shields are coming from?
3. Which weapon is more dangerous to the ships and gentler to the planets?
4. What is harder or easier to damage: Population, Mines, Factories, Shipyards or Improvements?
5. Where the population is living, so it is prone to damage: In caves, in huts, houses, sky scrappers, on the ocean's floor, etc.?
The game needs to be a lot more complicated to address this questions.

But a nice war tax/damage prize + eventual rebellion will make the invader to pay something, not just to take the planet for free!

People can see a warplanet coming days away and they destroy all the factories and mines first, usually.

that or they build everything up as much as they can, so that you will pay more cp, in case you dont check the planet to see whats there....

Shadow - I dont think that that make sense tactically.

1. you can only build one level per day
2. the invader will only pay for one day of costs, if he doesnt need the buildings, as he can destroy them all immeadiately
3. It often costs a lot more to build them than it does for the invader to maintain them for a turn

yes, that is true...but if they know that you are comeing, and know where you are going to attack, then this is feasable...not saying that its a good idea, cause they spend money for nothing, and most people do look at whats on the planet, but i have heard of this being done...
