|
|
How much can increase the number of inhabitants on planets of different size ?
E.g., on a size 3 planet I presently have population of almost 250.000.
In time, is it possible that it increases to millions or billions ?
What population at most do others have on size 3 and size 2 planets ? |

Have a look at http://www.kosmor.de/download/wachstum.swf. It's in german, but here some translations:
Planetendurchmesser - planet diameter
Bevölkerungszahl - population
Steuersatz in % - actual tax
Wachstum/Tag - population growth
max. Bevölkerung - max population
the races should be clear |

Do you have the formula?
I could reverse engineer it from the SWF file, but that will be quite monotonous! |

From the german forum, I hope I got this right.
max population = 30 * diameter
free space = max population - actual population
growth factor = race factor / 100 (for 0% tax, each percent tax reduces the growth by 10%, a leisure park increases by 30%)
growth = growth factor * free space |

Is it 30* diameter or 3*diameter? |

it slows down when t gets closer to maximum |

since it slows down as it gets closer to maximum, what's the formula for that? It's something based on percentage of free space? |

Here you'll find the answer. |

i've made a simulator for planet tax rates, growth rates and sizes to optimize growth without running out of money
maybe some time i'll make it into a cgi and put it online
atm it's just a perl program ^^ _________________ Major alphabravo in the house Thalgados-Sissyhood |

hm that sounds fine you should share it with your house comrades in Reacor *G* I have something similar as excel sheet for the taxing of my planets. |

Well, maybe you'll find something here. The growth calculator could be sth. for you. |

Meh, i just wanted the formula, so i could put all my planets in a spreadsheet instead of having to get the daily updates on the planet's population. that way, i would like know when to start putting taxes onto the planets that are starting to get full, yanno? I dunno how to extract the formula from that program or from the flash thingy from the german version. And as far as I know right now, that growth formula is wrong. The population growth is affected by how full it currently already is. I have a planet that's about 97% full, according to my calculations, and its like getting just about 300 population per day. When I plotted that formula into the predicted calculation, it was giving me about 15000.
Here's an example from one of my planets. The race of that planet is Insectoid and I currently have 0% tax and am non-pro, so no Leisure Park.
% Population Size Max Size Growth Coef Free Space Pop Growth
97.90 1,124,512 38,287 1,148,610 1.4 24098 33737.2
And all the calculations for them is as follows.
Max Size = Size * 30
Free Space = Max Size - Population
% = Population / Max Size
Growth Coef = racial growth / 100
Pop Growth = Growth Coef * Free Space
As you can see, this isn't right, right? The actual growth is (+ 341) for today, so the formula for Pop Growth is wrong. |

Wait, do you divide that racial growth coef by another 100? so like 140% = 1.4 right? then divide it by another 100 so it's .014?

Update
Okay, I tried that, and rounded to the interger, so now it all works, thanks a lot! |
