with gzip compression saved as map.svgz there is vast reduction in SVG

a kosmor map (for person X) without it is about 105KB
as .svgz it is 20KB


Adobe SVG viewer supports it without manual decompression first and w3c say every SVG viewer must

could this help save bandwidth for kosmor?
or just more GPU work?

Thanks for the hint.

I think, that we already send those svg maps in a compressed manner, if the browser supports it. The file type is .svg though, that is true, but the text content is transferred compressed.
