How close do you have to be with your wp to an enemy wp to engage in combat with them?

Same position. Nothing you should try, just send your ships over there.

That's .. lets say .. hard to believe. It's very unlikely that they had the same position. And I even think that the same position is not enough while just flying by - you have to set this position as the target to trigger a fight.

Regarding your 3 WP problem: It's random. Even with the fights being virtually parallel the GPU has to process them one after the other.
So if the fight on your WP (asuming you have enough CP to win) is the first one you'll defend with all ships and than the survivors will attack the other WP (with has no ships left).
If the other fight is first you'll win there and then your survivors will defend against the ships from the other WP. The second option may result in a better outcome for you (less enemies in one fight).
But if you are the strongest you'll win for sure no matter what.

I can only guess here. The coordinates of WPs were stored as integers and that was changed ~1,5 months ago (see here). So before that 0.3 might have been rounded down to 0 but afterwards that schould be a different position (assuming that Maeli really changed everything).
