how about allowing hulls to hold x combat points
and Y individual items

if you use smaller engines you can have more lasers or torpedos

or perhaps someone could have a leviathan with 3226 points worth of shields

perhaps just hte combat points makes more sense as a less powerful weapon is smaller

what do people think?

this would add a design element to the game and make battles less predictable

perhaps good for non pro users

I have seen a such idea in German Kosmor too. Smile

My opinion is - kosmor are sickly througt more as one great basis-errors.
For example the 12 levels for the components. Well - it exist 11 hulls and each hull can only carry hull-level + 2 components, but that are not very important.

Self a newbie own enaugh money and rawmaterials to build the greatest needed components.

If a player build for example a H4 - he take for that ship 2 D6, 2 T6, 3 L6 and 1 S6, and not 2 D3, 2 T1, 1 S5 and 3 L2. Throught this system are Laser smaller Level 3 and Torpedos smaller level 4 without worth. Only newbies build this components in small numbers...

Okay. Your idea would be solute that a bit, but i don't believe that that would help newbies, non-pro-usern and small players. This rule would be validate fore greater shiplevels too. A Leviathan with 3226 KK could be use smaller weapons and could be smash more small ships as today...

Well, real important aren't this idea.

The importants kosmor problem are the boring gameplay. A player need many weeks to have action. With his slow WP-Drive he have not one chance against a enemy which own more ships. Perhaps was this WP-drive perfect for the beginning of kosmor.de as a H4 was a great ship and a empire was not greater as 500 x 500 LJ, but today...

the interesting thing about the game is that little ships fire torpedos first
if you had a fleet that attacked the biggest and they didn't have shields then woo hoo

also you colud get some h4 ships this way that were the strongest by 1 or 2 points but had all shields

providing cover for the bang only ships

i understand the slow thing
but it is nice not to have to spend too long each day playing games

and still be competative

Who guy don't use Shilds for his ships ? And if a guy don't use Shilds he have a lot of small Ships how H1 with S1 and perhaps (if he are a Pro-user) one or two H11 with 24 S12. Shilds hold very much damage.

For example : A Heavy cruiser(H8 ) have 400 HP and 924 SP. How Many H4 need a non-Pro to shoot down this heavy Cruiser without that the H8 can shoot back ?

A H4 have 2 T6 which make 30 Damage. Each Torpedo hits with a chance of around 60 %. The shild of the H8 needs 31 hits and the body 14 hits.

45/60 = x/100 ---> x = 75 ---> You need 38 H4. And a H8 is for a Pro-user only a small ship. Smile

hey black skull
so what happens when the pro user decides he want to build goliath killers
and packs all torpedos into h8 hull no shields - uses h4 or smaller for that
and even more spave because he only uses D3 engines
so instead of 8 toorpedos he suddenly has 25 at T10 or even more at T8 if that makes sense ( to clear opponents H1/ H2 ships) this is what i mean about design strategy - not every one wil see it / use it the same way

this allows added interest in the game

you see the ships but you dont know what is inside them

also with this argument the H4 may have no lasers - but 5 torps - so 18 - 20 of them take out shielded H8 - but 6 or 7 kill the unshielded one
