I have a question for Maelstroem:
I am curious about how you name all the planets in the galaxy. Do you have a random name program? Do you name each one by yourself? (This seems unlikely with the number of planets in existence.)

Locutus, you are right, there is a random name program, which constructs planet names from substrings.

Bye,
Maelstroem

By the way - Could it are possible that the Name-generator build a planetname which use two or more planets in the galaxie ? I could me image that the hostcomputer are very bussied if he controll after each namebuild all planets to find a planetname which are not use from a existing planet.

I have another question:
I know that there are at least 7000 colonized planets in the galaxy, but there are probably at least 16000 total planets in all the explored areas of space, and probably 150000 planets in the galaxy.

How many planets are there in the galaxy, and how many planets actually have names? I would imagine that it would be hard for the game processor to individually process every single colonized/uncolonized/undiscovered planet in the galaxy individually, all in about half an hour.

Each planet has a ID, but its not used in the everyday life of a player. You can see the ID in the solar system overview if you move the mouse over a planet and look at the bar below, you will see a url with the ID.
